What is your role and what does your job entail?

Based in Oadby, Leicester, I am Sheldon Bosley Knight’s auction valuer for the north of our patch which covers Leicestershire and Warwickshire. Every day is different and that’s what I love about my job! I spend my days helping clients whose circumstances mean auction is the perfect route for a sale. These can vary from grand manor homes to retirement flats, agricultural land to derelict factories.

What did you do before joining Sheldon Bosley Knight?

I worked for a corporate estate agency as a branch manager and residential sales manager following maternity leave, looking after the Leicestershire branches for four years.

How did you get into the property industry?

After falling out of love with retail and working for Levi’s, I set my sights on something different which utilised my transferable skills and started working as a branch valuer for a large corporate estate agency. My time in the industry now totals over five years.

What attracted you to working for Sheldon Bosley Knight?

The company’s values and ethics centred around their teams and the wide variety of experiences my new role would entail.

What’s the best bit about your job?

Auction day! Knowing the moment the gavel falls, all the clients we’ve been able to help and advise in the run up to the auction now have a speedy and secure sale ahead, completing typically just 20 working days later.

What qualifications or training do you need to do this job?

I hold the Propertymark Level 3 Qualification in Property Auctioneering and am a proud member of the National Association of Valuers and Auctioneers. These accreditations reinforce my commitment to professionalism and provide clients with confidence they are receiving knowledgeable, reliable and compliant advice.

What motivates you to work hard?

An exciting challenge and to ensure a positive experience and end result for my clients.

Who or what inspires you?

My family inspires me to do the best I can to enjoy life to the fullest.

What are your career goals?

In time, I aspire to lead and manage our department, driving our sector forward and contributing to its continued growth and success.

What do you do when you are not at work?

Outside work, I swap the rostrum and property portfolios for playdates and family time. I’m a devoted mum and a proud dog enthusiast, sharing life with my little boy, my fiancé and our two lively dogs. I’m at my happiest surrounded by family and close friends – ideally with a coffee in hand, though a glass of wine never goes amiss.

What is the best piece of career advice you have ever been given?

To venture outside my comfort zone often to embrace upskilling.
