Hetal joined Sheldon Bosley Knight in July 2024 as an Auction Agent based in the Leicester office.
What is your job title and where are you based?
I am the Auction Agent based in Leicester.
What does your role involve?
My role is varied and involves speaking to a wide range of people every day. As an Auction Agent, I handle enquiries from prospective buyers and liaise with colleagues across the Auction team to ensure they receive the right information. I also work closely with sellers, providing them with regular updates on the progress of their property, whether it’s a house, cottage, or parcel of land.
On the auction day itself, I coordinate with the Auctioneer, valuers, buyers, sellers, and members of the public attending the sale. It’s our busiest and most rewarding day.
What did you do before joining SBK?
I previously worked as a Sales Negotiator at Frank Innes & Spencers, part of the Connells Group. I spent three years there and gained a lot of valuable experience, and great memories, working in the estate agency side of the industry.
How did you get into property, and how long have you worked in the industry?
My background in property goes back to 1994, when I ran a property development business in India as a qualified civil engineer. I moved to the UK in 1999, and in 2016 began building a portfolio of buy-to-let properties in Leicester, which continues to grow. My personal involvement in the sector eventually led me to pursue a professional career in UK property.
What attracted you to working at SBK?
I was keen to take the next step in my property journey, and auctions offered a new and exciting perspective. I was also drawn to Sheldon Bosley Knight’s ambitious growth, especially through acquisition, and saw it as an ideal platform to develop my career further.
What’s the best bit about your job?
The diversity. No two days are the same, and I enjoy helping buyers and sellers achieve their goals, especially when it involves making someone’s dream of owning a property come true.
What motivates you to work hard?
My family is my biggest motivation.
Who or what inspires you?
My spiritual guru continues to inspire me to achieve new milestones in life.
What are your career goals?
To continue developing my skills and embrace each day as a new challenge to grow further.
What do you do outside of work?
I spend a lot of time volunteering at our local Hindu temple. I help teach Gujarati to around 170 students of all ages and assist with our Saturday assemblies, where we explore teachings from scriptures and holy books. I also play volleyball on Sundays, the temple really serves as a vibrant, multi-purpose community hub. When time allows, I enjoy travelling and try to take an exotic holiday each year.
What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?
Believe in yourself, and give everything you do your all, so you stand out from the crowd.
